shapes compilation

The Shapes sampler boasts an exclusive collection of dance-floor orientated grooves, almost all of which have never been released on CD before or are entirely exclusive to this album.
The album opens with Fiesta Tropical, a one off signing to Tru Thoughts by French producer Azaxx. Azaxx makes catchy dancey instrumentals and sounds just like a Robert Luis DJ set. In a similar vein ‘Stabilo Bossa’ is a lively, fast-tempo dance track with bassy undertones, horns, and cymbals combined with dirty synth sounds. This track is by Barakas, the very same Simon Green you may have encountered as Bonobo.
Belleruche’s killer track ‘Northern Girls’ is remixed by DJ Vadim (Ninja Tune/BBE) whilst me&you’s massive drum and bass romp ‘Last Night’ is given the Benny Page (signed to Shy FX’s label Sound Boy) treatment and sees its first appearance on CD. (The Benny Page mix will be released on a limited stock of 12″ and only out a week before Shapes 07:02 on the 10th September.) Killer remixes abound on this instalment with super hot remix of ‘Compatible’ by PTH Projects (those cheeky Part Time Heroes), Drumagick’s bass masterclass mix of Tm Juke’s ‘Damn’ and Povo’s jazz-dance rework of ‘Wildflower’ originally from the recent Nostalgia 77 album ‘Everything Under the Sun’.
‘Panama City’ is a previously unreleased track from the forthcoming Latino funk album from The Quantic Soul Orchestra ‘Tropidelico’ out in October. It is also available on the b-side of the first single, ‘She Said What?’, and is available on 12″ from 24th September.
Other treats you will find on the album include an exclusive remix by Grant Phaboa of Alice Russell’s cover of the White Stripes classic track Seven Nation Army, instrumentals of Freddie Cruger’s ‘I Wanna Make You Move’ and The Bamboos ‘Get In The Scene’, the Quantic track Mi Swing Es Tropical which was recently featured on a recent Worldwide iTunes advert and is in such high demand that label owner Robert Luis decided to add it to this Shapes album despite its inclusion on a previous instalment.

MR. SCRUFF - NINJA TUNA
